Go back Our Latakia AO 1860, Molens Review
snus.snuffer, 08/01/2009 00:49:07
This is an absolutely delicious pure-tobacco snuff. Like all snuffs from Molens (also referred to as "De Kralingse"), this snuff is ground in an actual 18th-century Dutch windmill for that added Old World authenticity. The tobacco itself is a musty Virginia pipe tobacco - an excellent choice for former or current pipe smokers. It's a coarse, powdery grind - "powdery" in this case being more like the consistency of sugar or salt (or dry pipe resin!) than the talcum-powder-like powder of a high toast. The nic hit here is good, but not overpowering - in snus terms, somewhere along the lines of an Ettan or a Röda Lacket.
The only real down-note I have for this otherwise-wonderful snuff is the "drip" (i.e., the leakage from the nose to the back of the mouth) - it can cause a little sinal irritation due to the coarse grind. Some may prefer to mix this with another, smoother base, such as Toque Natural or Wilson's Gold Label. It adds a wonderfully rustic undertone to any snuff that it's mixed with, no matter how that snuff is flavored. Perhaps my favorite mix would be 1 part of this with 1 part of Jaxons' Cafe Creme - the result is an utterly intoxicating pipe-y blend - the way I remember tobbaco shops smelling as a non-smoker. Don't let the coarseness or ultra-low-budget packaging scare you off - this is a snuff that every snuff-taker should try. To leave a comment or review, press the button |
